Taken from a series of lectures by Dr. Jack Hyles to male students at Hyles-Anderson College. One’s potential is what he can do and can become. According to Webster’s Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary, the word potential is defined as follows: “Existing in possibility: capable of development into actuality.” Just as the leader has the responsibility of leading the follower to his potential, the follower has the opportunity and privilege, if he so chooses, to help his leader reach his potential. God does not endow all of us with the same gifts and talents, so He does not expect any of us to compete with the rest of us, but rather to develop in himself his gifts and his talents to their potential in Him.
